Two-knob tipper with center groove for the bodhran. Rhythm Sticks a pair of wooden sticks, Claves. Beat together for the proper rhythm. Smooth set of Blackwood bones 7 inches long by 7/8 inches wide, with a slight curve. The dense hard Blackwood gives a clear tone when struck. Hold one between the thumb and index, or between the index and middle fingers, so the flat side is between the fingers and it curves toward you. This one should hang down along your inner wrist. This one is held so it does not swing freely. The second one is held between the middle and ring fingers with the flat side between the fingers and the convex curve facing the convex curve of the first bone. Let it hang down along your inner palm and swing freely. To play, shake your hand and swing your wrist. The bones will clap against each other in a variety of rhythms. Lots of fun. Stir drum on a handle. 8 graduated tongues of rosewood create the sides. Stir Drum 8 graduated tongues of rosewood create the sides. A beater is drawn in a stirring motion around the inside to create a series of staccato clacks. Beater included. Rosewood thumb piano, 5 inches by 7 inches, 17 steel keys and two vibrato holes on the back. The thumb piano originates in Africa. It is also known as the kalimba, or mbira. The metal keys are mounted on a wooden box that acts as the resonating chamber. To play, rest the Kalimba on the fingers of both hands and hold it between your palms. Cover the vibrato holes with your fingers. Then pluck the keys with your thumbs. As you play you can un-cover and cover the vibrato holes as you like. Many different tunings are acceptable, according to personal preference. Similar tuning is only an issue when two instruments are played together; then they should generally agree in tuning. Longer keys have lower pitches and shorter keys have higher pitches. The keys can be adjusted by tapping them in or out to adjust their pitch.
